In late March, BestSeatFest.org will feature profiles of six different individuals or groups from our own communities. KRCB Public Television and Radio will broadcast highlights, with additional information available via streaming media right here on the web. All subjects challenge conventional stereotypes, expressing poignantly what it means to be a person with a disability in our community, both in terms of perception and reality.
The subjects and the working titles are listed below. Sign up for our newsletter to find out when these video and audio clips will be available online!
COACH: Chris Finn of B.O.R.P. is the coach of both the World Cup-winning USA Power Soccer team and the local Bay Area Earthquakes and Crushers. Power soccer is a skillful sport played in a power wheelchair, requiring grace and agility.
LEADER: Anthony Tusler is a trailblazing disability rights advocacy in Sonoma County. Anthony’s website is AboutDisability.com.
THE ART OF MOVEMENT: Judith Smith, Rodney Bell, Alice Shepherd, and Bonnie Lewkowicz redefine contemporary dance at the AXIS Dance Company, one of the nation’s premiere integrated dance companies (and currently on nationwide tour).
ADVENTURE: Tom Molina is passionate about the great outdoors.
PARENTHOOD: Judi Rogers from Through The Looking Glass gives a primer on raising a child from a wheelchair.
